5 complementary soft lures for sea bass fishing on a drag

It's sometimes difficult to choose the right soft lure for the job. Some are designed for a specific technique, while others discover a new vocation over the years. For bass fishing, I have a limited selection of models, but I trust them completely!

Illex Nitro Shad

The Illex Nitro shad is an emblematic lure in the world of trolling, and without doubt the most widely used by anglers today. It comes in various sizes from 9 to 18 cm, but the most versatile models are the 120 and 150.

The Nitro Shad's strengths lie in its tonic material and reduced caudal appendage. As a result, it produces tight, tonic vibrations that are highly effective on active bass.

Its bulbous shape and rounded flanks increase rolling during descent and allow it to show its flanks to predators. A must-have!

Flashmer Blue Shad

The Blue Shad has a similar profile to its predecessor, but is fundamentally different and therefore complementary: on the one hand, its rubber is much softer and therefore less reactive, and its paddle is wider and more voluminous.

As a result, the paddle's stroke is much wider, slower and more powerful. Its descent is slower than that of the Nitro Shad and it displaces a greater volume of water.

The Crazy paddle Tail from Fiiish

The Crazy paddle Tail in size 150 or 180 is a must-have for pull-apart fishing, as its profile perfectly imitates a sandeel. When bass are focused on this prey, a shad will be totally ineffective.

Designed to be animated with rapid traction in the water layer, it is equally effective with slow, wide animations and simply in linear motion.

Crazy Eel 180 and 220 from Fiiish

The Crazy Eel, and especially sizes 180 and 220, are excellent complements to the lures mentioned above because they obviously imitate a sandeel and offer a big bite. But above all, they have a totally different swimming action and vibration. These two models produce powerful vibrations and a wider swimming action than their little brother. They have the particularity of undulating along the length of their body like a sandeel and displace a large volume of water. Efficient in traction, they're also all the rage in the linear water layer!

Daiwa Junkie Jerk Shad

The Junkie Jerk Shad is a little-known lure, but it comes in some very effective colors and has a very natural swimming action that complements the previous lures.

It is shaped like a finess with a V-shaped tail. This makes it halfway between a shad and a sand lance in terms of profile. On strong pulls, its body undulates its entire length like an articulated swimbait. This swimming action, which is not felt in the rod, nevertheless displaces a large volume of water in a very natural way.

The main drawback of this lure is that it must be kept in its bag and not in contact with any other lure, otherwise it will melt...
