Z-man HerculeZ, a virtually indestructible soft lure!

The HerculeZ is a soft, internally leaded shad lure available in four sizes: 7.6, 10, 12.5 and 15 centimetres.

In terms of swim, shape or density, there's nothing very special to report, and it could almost go unnoticed by other similar lures.

Its paddle has good movement, the lure stands up well, there's not much to report except that it does its job well. Its lead sinker allows it to be used in a linear or pulling action.

However, it does have one particular feature that makes it worth talking about and paying attention to: that feature is ElaZtech. ElaZtech is a plastic patented by the Z-man brand, combining unique elasticity and resistance!

As we all know, a soft lure doesn't last the longest, but a Z-man soft lure does! In fact, the plastic used by Z-man has a high coefficient of elasticity, giving it excellent resistance to elongation and compression. Often, soft lures mounted on a lead head will tear on the back, but with Z-man lures, this problem doesn't exist! Another big advantage is that pike teeth sink into the lure without necessarily cutting it, giving it incredible longevity.

All the sizes on offer are fitted with a sturdy single hook that can cope with even the biggest fish without batting an eyelid.

What's more, it features a belly attachment, allowing you to add a hook or paddle. When fishing for black bass or sea bass, there's no need for an extra hook, but if you're looking for pike, it's best to add a hook via this attachment.

Given the position of this attachment point, you can place the hook directly on it, or move it back slightly with a stinger.

In terms of available colors, the choice is not very varied, Z-Man having gone straight to the point with only four colors available on the French market. In any case, the choice available is relevant and non-repetitive, making it possible to respond to a good number of situations.

With its multiple dipsonible sizes, the HerculeZ can be used for a wide range of species. Its primary targets are black bass and sea bass, but it would be a real shame not to think bigger!

In fact, its special rubber makes it really tough and long-lasting, and it's ideal for pike, a fish that consumes soft lures! It can also be used for perch, pike-perch and even catfish in the 15-centimetre version, as the hook is very strong!

As such, the HerculeZ looks like any other soft swimbait on the market, and you may find its price a little high for what it is. However, if you look at its lifespan, which is incomparable with other similar lures, it is ultimately very cost-effective. In all honesty, if you're not unlucky enough to have your paddle cut off, I can estimate that this lure can easily catch five times as many fish as a lure made from conventional rubber, before giving up the ghost, including for pike fishing!

For destinations with lots of pike or bass, it's definitely a good choice if you want to fish with soft lures, while avoiding losing all your savings.

Without talking specifically about the HerculeZ, but Z-man in general, I recommend trying at least once one of their references, you'll be amazed at the longevity of their lures!
