Weekly material / Edge Rods: the 8 must-have freshwater references

In a previous article, we made a selection of the most relevant models in the Edge Rods range to cover all sea fishing. The specifications are different in freshwater, so here are the must-have references for freshwater lure fishing for predators and salmonids.

FSS FWR 702 for trout

At 2.13 m long and with a casting power of 2-9 g, the FSS FWR 702 is a must-have for trout stalking in rivers from 3-4 m wide to 10 m long. This is a particularly versatile model that will allow you to achieve precise animations with hard lures or simply fish with spinners and wobblers. Obviously, this model is made of two equal strands, which is a huge advantage when moving along steep and/or crowded banks.

SWS DSR 721 the drop shot queen

Fans of fine fishing, especially drop shot fishing, will be won over by the DSR 721. With its sharp, sensitive tip action, you'll be able to create precise, minimalist animations using 3" soft lures. This model measures 7.2 feet (2m18) for 2-10 g of power.

FSS FWR 703 for poles

Aficionados of percid fishing always have a rod in their bundle that can animate 3-4" scratchbaits. The FWR 703 with its X fast action and high resonance will be the ideal tool for stalking perch and pike-perch with lead heads ranging from 3 to 7 g.

BWS MBR 734 for linear pike-perch fishing

While the previous model was aimed more at light fishing for perch and zander, the MBR 734 is the must-have model for specialists in the latter species. The MBR 734 meets all the requirements of linear fishing. Its fast action, combined with a reactive tip and resonant blank, allows you to feel the most discreet bites of this percid. Measuring 2m21 and weighing in at 5-25 g, the MBR 734's core business is 4" soft lures weighted between 5 and 14 g.

The ideal complement to the previous model!

EFX PRO MBR 664 for black bass fans

If you're a black-bass angler who likes fine fishing, there's only one rod you should own: the MBR 664. This 5-17 g model with X-fast action will allow you to cast in a handkerchief and achieve precise animations of worms, finesse or other creatures. Measuring 6.6 feet (1m99) and cast, this model will delight float tube anglers!

DELTA FSC CBG 714 for powerfishing and cranckbaits

Nothing is more uncomfortable than fishing with lures that vibrate a lot without the right rod. In the Edge rods range, the Delta CBG 714 has been designed with a moderating action to absorb as much vibration as possible and provide anglers with the comfort they need when powerfishing with cranckbaits, of course, but also chatterbaits and spinnerbaits.

EFX PRO MBR 738 all-round pike rod

When it comes to pike fishing, especially from the shore, you're often looking for a rod that's versatile enough to handle the widest range of lures, in terms of size, shape and action. Among the models in the Edge Rods range, one stands out as the all-round reference for pike fishing.

The MBR 738 with its 20-70 g of power will enable you to stalk pike with Beef Freeze 128, soft lures up to 7 inches or medium-sized jerkbaits, ideally Salmo Slider 10 cm or Buster jerk 2, but it will also accept the original 15 cm 75 g model. The advantage of a rod of this power is that it lets you have fun on fish of all sizes!

FSC SWBR 808 for swimbait fishing

Pike anglers using large swimbaits are becoming more and more numerous. In the Edge Rods range, the SWBR 808 is a model designed for this type of fishing. With its 2m44 length and moderate fast action, it will enable you to catapult models of up to 100 g. Of course, you'll be able to do the same with large 25 cm soft lures.

For precise short-range fishing, you can use lures up to 200 g, but you'll have to restrict yourself to casting under the rod.
