1 - On the hunt
Asp hunts are not discreet and it happens to see them on the edge, mainly at the beginning and end of the day. During these brief moments, one would think that they would be easy to catch, but on the contrary, it will take a lure that comes as close as possible to what they are hunting to hope to lure them. Often, small jerkbait minnows or small topwater of 6 to 8 cm with natural colors will be the most effective in this case. If the light is low, opt for a white or fluorescent yellow color.

A medium speed animation is adapted to this situation and if after several passes you have not had a hit, do not hesitate to change lures often to find the one they like, the first pass is often the right one. When you find the right pattern, it is not uncommon to chain the catches and take 5 to 10 asps in a short time is quite possible.
2 - During flooding
It happens that the rivers are in flood during spring or summer, especially at the beginning of the season, and it is quite possible to fish for asp when the water is high and/or turbid. This one will have behaviors close to usual but it will tend to frequent more the edges and it will be found in the tributaries of the main river. In fact, it follows the forage fish. What will change is the color of the lures to be used. In tinted water, colors like white, fluorescent yellow or gold are good choices.

I hope that my feedback on these points will help you, if you ever find yourself facing one of these situations.
