Fishing with a big rod has the particularity of having a rubber band in the kit. Each elastic, whether hollow, solid or hybrid, is specific to a fish or a season. Each size of rubber band is often a different color in each brand line.
The size of the elastics depends on the species of fish caught, the technical approach. But also on the season, or the water bodies. This is the reason why fishermen often have several different kits ready. The lines chosen and mounted on the kits, are consistent with the sizes of elastics. In any case, the assembly of the elastic will remain the same.
The different steps for a carp kit
- Pass the rubber band through the smooth power hole in the kit.
- Insert the rubber band at the back of the smooth power.
- Place the smooth power in the intended location.
- Insert the ball with a boilie needle.
- Slide the bead to the smooth power and make a loop at the end of the elastic.
The different steps for a white fish kit
- Pass the rubber band through the entire kit.
Wrap the rubber band around a ladder and pull the ladder through the kit. If necessary, cut a section of the ladder to fit the diameter of the kit.
In a second step, finalize the two kinds of kit in the same way.
- Make sure you have a socket at the end of the kit that will protect your elastic. The socket can be internal or external.
It is a small tip to be inserted in the kit.
- Make a knot at the end of the elastic and slip the H-connector into it like a loop-in-loop knot.
- Place the base of the H-connector against the knot, and slide the bead in by force. You should hear a "click".
Cut off excess elastic.
To finish, adjust your elastic tension. On the white kit, tighten or loosen the elastic by retrieving the ladder from the kit.
On the carp kit, leave a neutral tension by placing the bead without stretching the elastic.
All you have to do now is put your kits away carefully. For the carp kit, wrap the rubber band around the kit, without stretching it.

Always check your elastics before fishing. If it is worn or damaged, remove a few inches from the H-connector, and replace the accessory.
