The choice of baits for saltwater fishing is vast and can quickly become a significant budget for the wallet. There are a multitude of easily available and very economical baits to catch many fish.

Collect your own bait

To reduce the bait budget many fishermen harvest their future baits themselves. Shellfish, to the fish, crustaceans, cephalopods or fish can be easily caught and used as bait for your fishing trips.

Depending on the biotope, it will be easy to collect shells or worms at low tide on the Atlantic coast for example. Or to find crustaceans like hermit crabs or shrimps on the Mediterranean coasts. For harvest your own future bait there are many utensils that will make your job easier.

It is also possible to collect terrestrial baits such as snails or earthworms which, once hooked, will attract certain species of fish.

Better yet, stock up on bait by going fishing! Many fish, and all cephalopods, can be used to bait your hooks. Whole, filleted or in pieces, most fish will feed on other fish. However, respect the legal catch sizes in effect.

Bait in your fridge or cupboards

When you go shopping you don't always think about fishing, yet it is possible to fish with many ingredients in your fridge or cupboards.

Did you know that some pieces of meat can be used as bait for sea fishing? Chicken or turkey breast, beef or poultry liver, even slices of ham or pork fat, can be used to garnish your hooks.

Different kinds of cheese, such as hard cheeses cut into pieces, can be used to search for sars or mullets. To accompany all this, a piece of bread and the menu is complete for saupe fishing mules and oblades.

The list is long and almost endless, from now on, you won't go shopping without thinking about your next fishing trip.

To fish in the sea without spending too much money you also have the possibility to fish with pasta. Pasta made of different ingredients that are easy to find and inexpensive that you make yourself.

A bit of flour, semolina, a few pieces of melted cheese or fish flesh and you've got the makings of a great fishing trip. Dough fishing allows you to target many species of fish such as the sars mullet and saupe. The recipes are numerous and each fisherman has his little secret to trigger the bites.

As you can see, it is possible to fish without breaking the bank on bait! Different baits that will reduce your budget without reducing the pleasure of fishing.
