Fishing for pollock with the surprising technique of the elevator

The technique of the elevator is one of the most surprising. It makes it possible to make go up the place of sometimes 10 or 15 meters before it attacks. Strong sensations in perspective.

If there are many ways to interest the pollock, this is the most original. The pollock will follow the lure for several meters before deciding to attack.

An original technique

The elevator technique consists in making the lure go up vertically at a more or less fast speed. By nature, bass or bonito are stimulated by fast movements in front of their nose. Like felines, they will not let escape a prey come to tease them. The yellow spot is handicapped by its lack of endurance and will not remain indifferent in front of a wounded prey which swims slowly.

After having let the line go down to the bottom, we go back up this time very slowly, at the rate of one turn of the crank per 3 seconds. Arrived at the third of the height of water, if there is not touch, we repeat the maneuver. It is unstoppable, if the yellow spot is present, it will follow slowly and will attack during the rise.

A slow fishing or patience is required

The third of the water height means concretely that in 30 m of bottom, you go up to 10 m under the boat. Then, you must let the lure reach the bottom. The pollock is a carnivore with little stamina, it likes to follow its prey to approach them slowly. When it is at a distance of attack just behind its target, it carries out a sprint to sanction immediately the prey. He knows that his stamina is lacking and this method of attack is his own.

By the way, just for fun, try fishing like this, with 8 cm lures leaded in 5 g, in the harbors. You'll be surprised to see the results on baby pollack. Of course, these small unmeshed fish must be put back in the water to grow. But it is funny to see that this attack reflex is part of their character from a very young age.

Tapered lures

Les leurres effilés sont plus efficaces
Here, lures 2, 3 and 5, tapered, are more effective.

The place has its preference for the lures, choose tapered lures. It is therefore necessary to choose slugs or flexible lures of 18 to 23 cm weighted by a darting lead head, that is to say in point, of a weight from 40 to 70 g.

It's a good idea to have a rod with a regular action, i.e. a tip that is not too reactive. This intermediate action helps to better bite the fish. The spot is not ferreted out right away. After the strike, keep reeling and wait two seconds before striking. The result is a nice start that makes the reel sing!
