The really cold weather (some days it was still -3°C at the end of the morning) and the fact that the water is really fished a lot did not incite me to pre-bait some stations.

Visible stick and bait
As a result, the strategy I employed was, once I found a place to settle (which was not always easy), to meticulously survey the post to find the interesting areas. Then, the rods were placed precisely with the stick as the only primer. The baits used were highly visible bait in yellow or fluorescent pink. Either perfectly balanced wafter dumbells or 12 mm floaters.

The sticks and bait were "reboosted" just before casting to really create a small and very attractive area. I would re-launch the two or three rods depending on the spot about every hour or hour and a half. Always in exactly the same place so that the bait contained in the sticks worked permanently and interested a fish to pass over the area.

An average not far from 20 kg!
Precision in the probing and baiting with the sticks did their job...and the strategy paid off since in 5 winter afternoons, I was lucky to catch 6 carps for an average not far from 20 kg. A rare fishing in such a short time in a pond of the public domain.
