The Mercury Fishing Cup IV , held on September 19 and 20, 2026, on Lake Bort-les-Orgues, was about more than just a race for every centimeter and a spot on the podium. At the awards ceremony held on the esplanade of the Val Castle , two special awards served as a reminder that sport fishing is also rooted in human values: the Jury Prize and the Fair Play Award .
A Jury Prize Dedicated to the Transmission of Knowledge
The Jury Prize was awarded to Steve Lataste and his daughter Capucine, who is only 11 years old . A symbolic choice, since this family duo embodies the passing down of a passion for fishing from one generation to the next.
Their participation perfectly illustrates one of the stated goals of this fourth MFC: to ensure that recreational fishing is passed on to future generations and to inspire new enthusiasts. This commitment was also evident in the organization, on the sidelines of the competition, of the Open Kids Flashmer , which welcomed 17 young fishermen.
In recognition of their achievements, Steve and Capucine Lataste received a Rodhouse Signature Mercury "Keys" Spinning Rod , an award that also recognizes the partners' involvement in organizing the competition.
The Fair Play Award for the Kerguen/Derrien Crew
Another highly anticipated award is the Fair Play Award was returned to the crew Kerguen/Derrien for his exemplary conduct throughout the competition. The two fishermen left with a Signature Mercury Lake X Casting Rod .
This award serves as a reminder that, beyond sheer performance, respect for other competitors and sportsmanship play an important role in a competition that brought together nearly 140 competitors .
