Behind the Fargo 31 is Pescavel, an architectural and naval engineering firm founded in 2010 by Jérémie Steyaert in Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron. The company understands the challenges of offshore fishing firsthand, as its team engages in professional rod-and-reel fishing on a daily basis, specifically targeting sea bass, pollock, and bluefin tuna.
After the Cyann , a 6.92-meter open line boat built in 2018 and still in service today, Jérémie Steyaert designed a boat capable of keeping pace with the evolution of this sport. The stated goals are ambitious: to sail farther, maintain good speed in rough seas, and complete up to 180 to 200 trips per year.

A catamaran designed for long days of fishing
Built as a one-off using the glass-vinylester infusion process, the Fargo 31 has a hull length of 9.33 meters and a beam of 3.39 meters. Pescavel opted for a progressive V-shaped hull and a narrow tunnel, designed to perform optimally between 25 and 30 knots. Two 250-horsepower Suzuki V6 outboard motors provide propulsion. The manufacturer claims a top speed of 40 knots at full load.
The layout is designed to meet the needs of a crew that spends many hours on the water. The central cabin, mounted on silent blocks, accommodates three people and includes a toilet as well as an electrical and electronics compartment. Two helm stations?one in the cabin and one on the flybridge?complete the layout. Aft, a bench seat with storage offers seating for three; four 400-liter insulated coolers, a large forward storage compartment, and bulwark hatches contribute to the deck?s organization.
According to Pescavel, the model on display is unsinkable, certified for commercial fishing, and meets Bureau Veritas? structural requirements for unlimited navigation. It has a draft of 0.60 meters, a light displacement of 4.5 metric tons, and a fuel capacity of 600 liters, distributed across two tanks.

With this presentation at the Grand Pavois Fishing show, Pescavel sought to showcase a design born of its professional experience, while exploring its potential among recreational anglers looking for a catamaran designed specifically for sport fishing.
