We closely followed the Honda Marine/Kerfil/Atlanticraft crew?composed of Jordan Tellier, Manu Maria, and Yvan Quinsac?and how they adapted their strategy to the conditions of each race.
Two races, two different strategies
Round 1: The surface, in very shallow water
Fishing in very shallow water, the crew noticed that the fish were biting well at the surface. They therefore decided to use a surface lure Mustad Vertebrata Top Water 110 mm , combined with the cane Dark Eagle 218 cm, 7?35 g . Its relatively flexible tip is a valuable asset when fishing on the surface: it minimizes hook pulls on fish that take the bait lightly. The result: two fish landed, measuring 45 and 47 cm.
Round 2: The seabed, between 8 and 12 meters deep
A change of scenery in the second leg: fishing in 8- to 12-meter-deep water, with no activity on the fish finder and no fish rising from the bottom. The crew opted for a Kerhy Shad 120 mm, Ayu color, 20 g , fished along the bottom, where the fish were coming up to take it. The Ayu color really stood out.
For this technique, the fishermen have traded their fishing rods for a Dark Eagle 240 cm, 10?50 g : Its length allows for better control of the lure from a distance. This strategy paid off, resulting in four fish: two measuring 45 cm, one measuring 58 cm, and one measuring 61 cm.
A twelfth-place finish in the standings
This ability to adapt enabled the crew to win the 12th place in the competition with 301 points.
