A changing time
After a long period of warm waters, the temperature of the Mediterranean has dropped and offers new opportunities for fishermen.
The more frequent gusts of wind at this period will allow the fishermen on board to look for wolves. By calm sea, during the day, you will have the possibility to observe some hunting. When the sun is down, it will be the time to look for squids from the shore or by boat.
Pelagic fish are present
At the end of the summer, the different pelagic fish are often hunting. Bonitou, pelamide tuna, tuna-like fish, or Spanish mackerel, can be fished with lures on the hunt or trolling.
Remember to observe the size of the forage fish and adapt the size and color of your lures to best imitate these prey so coveted by the carnivores.
Take advantage of the eastern blows to track the wolf
Whether you are fishing with lures or surfcasting, to the pelota or with the wedge, the autumn is a very good season to fish the wolfish and to find the biggest subjects. East winds start to sweep the Mediterranean coasts, the bottom is well stirred and many preys are offered to the marauding wolffish.
However, beware of waves and swell which can be dangerous especially on rocky coasts.
By calm sea, fish for squids
During this period, the white squids are approaching the coasts for the greatest pleasure of fishermen who love eging. Whether from the shore or from a boat, it's time to take out your best jigs or squids to catch some tentacles.
By boat or kayak, it is possible to look for squid at the end of the day on depths exceeding 20 meters. If you are equipped with a depth sounder, look for balls of forage fish, the schools of squid will not be far away.
From the shore, it is of course necessary to privilege the sunrise and the sunset, to hope to catch squids. At this period, the big subjects are not always present. So do not hesitate to use small jigs, while thinking of releasing the small squids so that they can become larger.
Autumn, an ideal season in the Mediterranean to indulge your passion.
