A survey open to all fishermen
Whether you fish at sea or in freshwater, whether you enjoy catching predatory fish, whitefish, carp, or offshore fishing?every angler is welcome to take the survey. The survey is open to both casual anglers and avid enthusiasts who spend time by the water all year round.
The method of fishing is also irrelevant. Whether you fish from the shore, a beach, the rocks, a float tube, or a boat, everyone has experiences and perspectives that can enrich the findings of the 2026 Fishing Observatory.
This effort to reach such a broad audience should provide a representative snapshot of recreational fishing in France, its trends, and the main concerns of those who participate in it.
Sinkers, live bait fishing, and catfish management are on the agenda
Several important topics are addressed in this new consultation. Participants can, in particular, share their views on the use of lead in fishing gear, live bait fishing, and catfish management.
The survey also focuses on RecFishing and to TAEMUP , two issues that directly concern the regulation and evolution of certain practices. These technical, regulatory, and environmental issues can have tangible consequences for fishermen, equipment manufacturers, and the entire industry.
By directly seeking the input of anglers, GIFAP and Union Sport & Cycle hope to bring to light the realities observed in the field. This consultation thus provides an opportunity for anglers to voice their expectations, concerns, and suggestions.
A short, anonymous questionnaire
It only takes a few minutes to participate. The survey is short and completely anonymous: none of the responses can be used to personally identify participants.
The more contributions we receive, the better the results will reflect the diversity of the French fishing community. It is therefore essential that fishermen participate in order to give weight to the findings of this survey and inform future discussions on recreational fishing.
The 2026 Fisheries Observatory will remain accessible until October 4, 2026 . All fishermen are invited to participate and share the survey with others.
