Suzuki Fishing Tour 2026: a fine first leg in La Rochelle

The Suzuki Fishing Tour season opener set the tone on April 18 and 19 in La Rochelle, in conditions as committed as they were spectacular.

An action-packed competition

Organized by Nautique Services La Rochelle, this first round took place in the privileged setting of La Rochelle Nautique, bringing together enthusiasts and competitors to officially launch the Suzuki fishing season. The weekend coincided with the first high tide of April, providing an ideal backdrop for an action-packed competition.

From the outset, the 16 crews (46 anglers) had to contend with rough seas, marked by waves of up to 2 meters. This demanding terrain did not dampen the spirits of the participants, who were determined to do well. The fishing zone, cleverly delimited between the islands of Ré and Oléron, offered enough space for everyone to prospect efficiently, observe the hunts and adjust their strategies.

The first day, punctuated by heavy seas, favored fish activity, with a total of 35 catches netted. The conditions enabled the most experienced crews to make their mark quickly. Sunday, on the other hand, was a different story: a north-easterly wind, rough water and more technical conditions made it harder to read the water. Despite this, 29 fish were validated, proof of the competitors' commitment and perseverance throughout the weekend. The most beautiful catch reached 69 cm, rewarding a perfectly mastered strategy.

The ranking

At the end of two days of competition, the podium reflects experience, team cohesion and adaptability:

1st place: Suzuki Fishing Team 1 âeuros Sébastien Mongruel, Pierrick Garenne and Sébastien Gaillard
2nd place: Black Cannibale âeuros David Delabarde, Cédric Murat and Sébastien Cholet
3rd place: Mathéory âeuros François Ory, Cyril Mathé and Frédéric Marquilly

In addition to sporting performance, the event also highlighted environmental commitment, with the presentation of the Clean Ocean Project trophy to the Ambermar IV crew, made up of Marc Rubio, Benoît Rubio and Bastien Renard, for their exemplary commitment.

This first meeting of the Suzuki Fishing Tour 2026 marks a successful launch, combining competition, conviviality and respect for the marine environment. A promising start to what promises to be an exciting season.
