The different species concerned
For the year 2026, the species targeted on the coastline are Eastern Channel âeuros North Sea are :
- Pollack (Pollachius pollachius)
- Sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)
- Bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus)
- Pink sea bream (Pagellus bogaraveo)
In the Mediterranean, registration will apply to all on-board fishermen (excluding those working on foot) from 2026 onwards the species whose catches must be reported are mainly :

This list will be progressively extended until 2029 to include all fish stocks subject to quotas, multi-year plans, or for which recreational fishing has a significant impact according to scientific advice.âeuros
Who's concerned?
All recreational anglers at sea, aged 16 and over, who explicitly target these species on the Atlantic, Channel and North Sea façades, are subject to annual registration and daily declaration of their catches.âeuros
How it works
Registration is done via the RecFishing application, accessible before any fishing action, and is valid for one year.âeuros
The app is compatible with Android (7.0+) and iOS (15.1+), works offline, and allows daily catch reporting, including photo recognition or choice of common species name.âeuros
Until 2030, priority will be given to education and awareness-raising, with no immediate sanctions, but controls and corrective measures may be provided for in the event of repeated breaches.âeuros

This reform aims to improve data collection on recreational fishing, protect sensitive stocks and harmonize management throughout Europe.âeuros
