A determined French team
Led by Captain and coach Eric DESPALIN, the French street fishing team met up in GreenBay, USA, on Sunday October 19, 2025.
First and foremost, the French team would like to warmly thank Eric DESPALIN and JILITI, the FFPS Carnassiers and all the kind donors who have contributed to the fund.
The team is made up of experienced pairs, the 2024 world champion and two young newcomers.
They include Jeremy SEGUIN and Tom BONTEMPELLI, Baptiste VERGER and Martin JEANSON and France 2024 champions Gabriel BINET and Jules VIDEAUD.

The 2025 French champions, Morgan CALU and Thomas GASNIER, are paying dearly for their under-performance in 2024. Morgan CALU is a delegate and Thomas GASNIER is providing technical and material support, having offered to come at his own expense.
Laure HANSE PAUTROT represents the FFPS Carnassiers and will be in charge of communications.
Introducing Greenbay and the competition format
The competition takes place over two days, on Saturday October 25 and Sunday October 26, 2025. The opening ceremony takes place on the preceding Tuesday.
Training sessions are held on the course from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Fishing on the course outside these sessions is strictly forbidden and reserved for competitors only.
Sector A downstream offers numerous structures. Sector B is more bland. Only upstream and the canal seem interesting.

Both areas are located on the Fox River, which flows into Lake Michigan. It's a rather rich limestone river, but the level is lower than normal.
One pair from each nation fishes each sector A and B on Saturday during heat 1 and they reverse on Sunday.
Ranking points are calculated by adding up the place points obtained by each pair in their sector. A pair finishing 5th scores 5 place points. The aim is to accumulate the least number of place points at the end of the two rounds.
To score, you need to accumulate the greatest number of centimetres of fish among the selected species.
The special feature of this street fishing is the many "new" species to be caught.
These are divided into categories and a maximum quota of 5 fish per category is applied for a maximum of 7 fish.

You can catch 7 walleyes, but only the 5 biggest will be counted and you'll need 2 (or more) fish from another category to improve your total number of centimetres of fish.
The five categories are :
We need to get to know these new playing partners well if we're to score... We'll talk about it in the next article!
