Flawless organization
I can't begin to praise the responsiveness and professionalism of Leonard Andry and his team. Flawless organization despite the scale and short preparation time. The organization offered competitors a top-quality date, with a few setbacks and a few new features.
In fact, this date was divided into two rounds counting towards the French championship. One round on Saturday and one on Sunday. You have to get the fewest points to be the best placed. First equals 1 point, second equals 2 points, third equals 3 points, etc.
In addition, we had to deal with an application "failure" which changed the situation from a strategic point of view, but also in terms of logistics. The organizers adapted perfectly, and the competitors all played the game well.
It should also be noted that Charleville-Mézières hosted the Grand Est Street Fishing Championship two weeks before, and the perch were very receptive.
First round on Saturday, September 20
25 pairs met on the banks of the Meuse for this stage of the French championship in Charleville-Mézières. The course was huge and full of fish, leaving plenty of scope for strategy.
The reigning French champions, the BINET/VIDEAUD duo, won this first round almost exclusively on chub. They were followed by their runners-up from 2024, the seasoned SEGUIN/BONTEMPELLI, who also opted for sight-fishing for chub and caught a providential pike.

The ROJO-DIAZ/FOURCADE duo, with a solid quota of perch, three chub and a large barbel, are also regulars on the podium.
The BARA/JAUMOTTE duo showed their technical solidity and the experience they had acquired two weeks earlier by completing a very fine perch quota with several fish over 30 cm!

Behind them, the scores are tight, with other experienced duos such as BONNAL/GABRYSIAK, DENNETIERE/LEMAIRE and CALU/GASNIER in ambush.
Outsiders such as SARRAZIN/MAUDET and PAUTHIER/GAUTHIER also scored well, taking 6th and 7th place respectively on Saturday.
The VERGER/JEANSON DUO, accustomed to podium finishes and indecently regular, lacked inspiration.
Second round on Sunday, September 21
The cards are reshuffled. The area was under heavy fishing pressure the previous day. There was a lot of rain during the night and the weather forecast predicted a deluge during the day. In the end, hardly a drop fell.
Already solid on the previous day, SEGUIN/BONTEPELLI took first place on a chavaine sight peach once again. A winning bet!
Behind them came the CALU/GASNIER duo, authors of a tricky perch quota, and four chub.

LANDREVIE/COMBEAU made a fine comeback and showed great mental strength. 14th on Saturday, they took 3rd place on Sunday.
4th in this Sunday's round, we meet up again with the French champion BINET/VIDEAUD, who had another fine display of sight-fishing for chub.
5th and extremely consistent, BARA/JAUMOTTE once again managed to complete a pole vault quota that was hard to achieve on Sunday.
Almost as regular, the DENNETIERE/LEMAIRE duo finished 6th with a pike and some fine perch.

VIDAL/PETIT, CAMPOT/ERICK, CUVELIER/LOEILLET and SARRAZIN/MAUDET complete Sunday's top 10.
Proof that fishing has become tougher, some of the duos who were well placed on Saturday unfortunately missed out on their second round...
Overall, chub were sight-fished and perch were mostly lured on slow-moving light texas rigs. We had to get past the numerous gobies, whose population had exploded!

Final date ranking
The final ranking for this charleville-Mezières street is established by accumulating the points from Saturday and Sunday.
- SEGUIN/BONTEMPELLi win with two clean sweeps (2nd on Saturday and 1st on Sunday).
- BINET/VIDEAUD, adopting a similar strategy and also sight-fishing for chub, finished second (1st on Saturday and 4th on Sunday).
- BARA/JAUMOTTE , with their consistent performance, rounded off the podium with a different strategy based on scratch pole fishing (4th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday).
Nothing's decided yet in this French Street Fishing Championship, and some have not yet said their last word. The outcome will be known in Paris in three weeks' time, during the two rounds on October 11 and 12, 2025.
