Several varieties
There is a very large number of aquatic plants or weeds that you can meet during your outings depending on the environment you fish. They can be water lilies, milfoil or even water primrose for example. Whatever their structure and aspect, they are all excellent spots to locate numerous species of fish and carnivorous fishes of course.
A food chain
The first reason why weed beds concentrate carnivores is that they are rich in larvae and consequently in forage fish and therefore behind them predators. Grass beds concentrate life and if you don't succeed in triggering an attack, you can nevertheless be sure that the probability of them being inhabited is high!
A rest area
The second reason why aquatic vegetation shelters a large number of fish, including carnivores, is that it allows the latter to rest in the shade and out of sight. This space offering visual security offers another advantage, that of being an excellent strategic spot for stalking. The active fishes will often be at the edge of the meadows ready to pounce on passing preys.
A spawning area
Finally, at the beginning of the season, the grass beds constitute spawning areas for a large number of species. Thus, you will be able to find pikes which stay in the vicinity after having reproduced or to benefit from breams and roaches which come to spawn in their turn.
On the surface
To prospect the herbariums and other plants, it is very advisable to start with its periphery, but once its surroundings are prospected, start with a surface fishing before letting a lure dive in their heart.
In Texan
To prospect these strategic spots deeper, spinnerbaits are obviously excellent lures, but the Texas rig is undoubtedly the one that allows you to penetrate the heart of the weed beds most easily and efficiently.
