Aesthetically, Hearty Rise has chosen shades of dark red, gold and black for the Red Shadow range. This gives a classy look, quite sober and unobtrusive, far from the flashy colors that the brand offered at one time. However, the appearance remains secondary to the performance of a fishing rod.
The build quality of this Red Shadow HYRSTC02 is top notch, the ligatures, the varnish and especially the accuracy of the fittings are well executed. The rod feels solid and its action is not altered by the multiple joints.
Use
Personally, I like long casting rods and its 2.16 meter length, which may seem long on paper, is in fact very well proportioned. This gives it a regular fast action that is very pleasant to use for several hours. This length is also due to its rather long handle, and the pommel that ends it, which balances the whole properly.
A good point is its resonance, very correct, which really allows to take advantage of all the power range displayed on the rod, from 9 to 46 grams.
The primary purpose of this rod is to fish for pike, but it would be a shame to limit it to this one, because it has its place on the fishing of black-bass, peacock-bass and all other similar species.
To accompany him
A casting reel in size 100 or 150, filled with 20 or 30 lb. braid is just the right size to take full advantage of the power range of this Red Shadow.
My opinion
Hearty Rise has been making travel rods for over 10 years. With this series called Red Shadow, we benefit from all their expertise in the field and we feel that the rod, from the butt to the tip, has been well tested and studied.
The rod benefits from an excellent quality/price ratio, especially when you see the increase in the price of rods in recent years, and a very good finish. It will satisfy without any worries someone who wants a small rod for his everyday fishing, as well as a traveler who wants a versatile rod just for the time of a trip.
