When you arrive on an unknown corner, there is always the apprehension of not knowing how to exploit it. In a previous article i spoke to you about the assets that you must keep in all circumstances. I come back here on this corner of vacation where, if you go with your kayak, you will not be disappointed. The Guérandaises form the group of islets that emerge at low tide off the bay of La Baule in Pornichet.
The islet of Evens

The islet of Evens is a wide strip of fine white sand, surrounded on both sides by sharp and torn rocks, with large corridors where the tidal current rushes in. There, the bass are posted on the lookout, the lures of surface decided there of the nervous fish of 40/45 cm with the quite black backs, balls of fighting muscles as one wishes.

For the bigger fish, between 60 and 65 cm, it is the small bib swimming fish, swimming in the two meters under the surface which decided them. One observation made during this stay in unknown land, the soft lures did not find any takers.
Fishing on Baguenaud

It is also an ideal spot for a picnic at the end of the session, with your feet in the water. Baguenaud is three quarters of an hour's sail from the first island. More elongated and narrower than the Evens, it is in fact a sandy spit, with some rock around. This island is also a nesting place for many species of sea birds. Moreover, before arriving there, we can smell the guano, generations of seabirds have followed one another.
The depths around are from 2 to 5 meters of water, and they are also well populated with sea bass and speckled bass. It is enough to see the number of "baos" (longlines), of professional fishermen, placed around to say that the area is frequented by our scaled friends. There too, the swimming fish proved to be formidable, fish of 50 to 60 centimeters in the whole.

The stone of pierced stone

Pierre percée is half an hour's sail from Baguenaud. This rock is, as its name indicates, pierced in its middle by a large hole. It rises about ten meters above the surface. Here, the depths are a bit higher, it is interesting to go around the islet to realize that nature does things well. The two times I went there, there were many recreational fishermen, at anchor, looking for dorados. I caught mostly sea bass (small ones), mackerel and garfish.
Fishing also on the way home
These three spots are to be done in the morning, to be linked according to the tide. When the tide is going out, start with the Pierced Stone and then let the tide carry you to work on the two other spots.
To return, cross the embankment of the port of La Baule/Pornichet, then follow the coastline of Bonne Source before leaving the water. In case of an onshore wind, stay under the protection of the coastline and follow it in the direction of St Nazaire, to the beach of Mr Hulot for example. There are also a few jewels of beaches that are practically inaccessible on foot, a little further on, where you can have your snack break.

Work the heads of rocks that sink into the water, depending on the tidal current, nice peeps often hang out, like this nice 69 cm bass bitten by one of my outing companions, followed by another 65 cm.

So if you pass by, don't hesitate to put your kayak in the water, you won't regret it.
