A great urban route
The city of Lyon lies at the confluence of the Saône and Rhône rivers.
The course is huge and very urban.
In the opinion of many streetfishermen, the Saône offers more catches than the Rhône for shore anglers. At least in Lyon "intramuros".
The Saône-side course also offers a special setting, fishing under the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière overlooking old Lyon. You can also dine in the famous bouchons or enjoy a coffee on the terraces in the magnificent heart of this historic city.

The river is very wide and deep, offering an almost infinite prospecting ground for shore anglers.
Good fishing spots
Here again, there are several good areas to prospect as a priority. Bridge piers that break up the current offer refuge to percids. Vertical quay footings and quaysides along barge parking areas are also very good spots. These are the areas to prospect as a priority.

In addition to breaking up the current, they offer relief and are generally colonized by aquatic plants that hold a good deal of fry and fingerlings, the target of carnivorous fish.
Equipment for success
Deep and wide, the course is best explored with suitable fine braid (PE 0.3 on reel size 1000/2000 and UL rod or PE 0.6 on reel size 2000/2500 and ML rod) and a good casting rod of at least 2 metres. A pair of UL and ML or M power rods can be used to track all species except catfish.
The course's dominant species
Perch, pike-perch, pike-perch, catfish and chub are just some of the many species present throughout the course.
Techniques and lures to use
For perch, dropshot is ideal for fishing far and deep with small soft lures. Micro jigs or small vibrating blades provide a variety of catches, with a focus on small perch. Linear shads of 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) target larger predators such as zander, pike and catfish.

Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits are very effective on pike, which are well represented.
Tips for success on this course
In autumn, there are very high concentrations of perch. You can locate them by fishing quickly. Once the areas of activity have been detected, you can insist on catching several dozen fish. Finally, areas where swans and ducks are fed by passers-by concentrate white fish (bream, barbel, a few chub...) and carnivores on the prowl...
Finally, be careful behind you: there are lots of walkers on the riverbanks!
