The look of Bone's travel series has remained unchanged for years, and that's good, because it remains timeless, simple and very pleasant. We find a black cane, with a camouflage handle in shades of black and gray.
The finishes are beautiful, we feel once again that these are rods made to last and undergo abuse, while keeping an important parameter and specific to the entire range: lightness.
In any case, even if the aesthetics can direct the choice of the fisherman at first glance, it is of course the performance of the rod that should be focused on.
I have to admit, unfortunately, for the first spinning rod of the range that I test, I am not as excited as the casting models of the series.
Use
Even if aesthetically, the rod is as good as the casting models, I find the length of the handle disproportionate to the length of the rod and its power.
With a total length of 2.13 meters, including about 40 centimeters reserved for its handle, I do not find this rod pleasant to use. Its use is therefore limited, far from being versatile, which is generally expected from a multi-strand rod.
We can already forget about using this rod in float-tube, and I will reserve its use for boat fishing, preferably with lures that are animated rod high.
In the case of the boat, this length of handle gives a good leverage to cast easily, and fight beautiful fish without pain. From the shore, I would rather go for a 2.20 or 2.30 meter model, with a shorter handle.
To accompany him
A 3000 size reel with 15/100 braid is a good size to balance this rod.
My opinion
I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when I first picked up this rod. This may be due to the fact that I idealized too much the Bone brand casting rods.
Indeed, since I tried their casting rods, I can't do without them. Anyway, this spinning rod is very good, but I advise you to take it in hand if the opportunity arises before finalizing your purchase. Because in my opinion, its handle is way too long for a versatile use.
Apart from this, the quality of the blank and the rod are present, as always with Bone, but you must be aware that this rod is intended for use primarily in boats.
