Return of session / Opening 2022: a difficult session, but a good time with friends!

A nice pike to save our opening session

After a few months of waiting, the opening of fishing in second category 2022 is finally here. The opportunity to get together with friends for a fishing party in the lake of dam, in search of pikes!

Last minute preparation

After having decided to fix the date of our opening on Sunday, according to the availabilities of each one, we scrutinize with attention the evolution of the weather forecast. Indeed, the rain is announced, and the lake being at more than 2 hours of road, we wait the last moment to validate our displacement! It is during the day of Saturday, that we finally take our decision, and that we prepare all our material!

The pike will be our main target, but the lake being very large, the zones are varied and a large choice of lures must fill the boxes! Without forgetting to take some lures with perch to save the hood in case of inactivity of the pikes! Electric motor, fishfinder, lithium battery, bakkans filled with lures, rod and reel, for fishing, everything is there!

But the opening is also and above all a good moment of conviviality, so we obviously prepare a good lunch, something that is never missed and for which there is no no kill!

Assessment of the morning

It is 8 am, and here we are at the edge of the lake, not a cloud in the sky, not a bit of wind, the day finally looks very beautiful! We put the two boats in the water, install the motors and depth finders, take out the rods, much more numerous than the fishermen, but to be ready for all the techniques!

After half an hour of preparation, we are finally on the water, the level of the lake is at its maximum and the water arrives just under the branches of the trees. Our approach will then be as close as possible to the edges to find pikes feeding there! The casts follow one another, as well with big lures as with smaller sizes, not the slightest follow-up, not the slightest touch...

After 3 hours, the desire to get some bites takes over, and it's the pallet sinker or the micro lures like the touptishad that will succeed in luring some perch to "save the hood".

The lead pallet, a real hood saver ...

The wind starts to rise slightly and our hopes of seeing the fish wake up are growing! Around 12:00, just before we decide to go back to the shore to eat, it's a beautiful pike of more than 85 cm which will follow the Sandra of one of us, it will put a small peck in it, but without really taking it, even after having insisted on the zone by changing regularly lures, we will not see it again.

A very complicated morning, it is time to settle down on the bank and to take advantage of some sweets that each one brought. A good hour of conviviality and laughter, during which we disconnected from our tracking.

A time change that pays off!

Our lake being located in the mountains, the weather can change at any time, and by the time we ate, the sun was hidden behind the clouds, the wind had picked up and a few drops were even starting to fall on the surface of the lake! These conditions coupled with the low activity of the morning, will have had reason of the motivation of the girls, who will prefer to remain in the shelter. So we decided to leave with 3 of us, with only one boat and a lot of hope! We head towards the bank beaten by the wind, and the throws follow one another again!

Â" FISH! Â" launched Ghjuvà , while shoeing, into the void âeuros¦ The lure that hit a branch? No, there was a lot of bottom at this place, it was indeed the first real touch of the day âeuros¦ The pike will not come back, but this semblance of activity will remotivate us, and this, in spite of the rain which starts to intensify!

We go down all three in sizes of lures, and we try to play it strategic to absolutely bring in a fish, Ghjuvà fishes with the Sandra, me with the chatter with a Neo Frog in trailer, and Pierre-François with a glide bait. After having swept a good fifty meters of shoreline, Ghjuvà throws his Sandra 12 cm color mojito only a few centimeters from the bank, and after only two turns of the cranks, takes a big hit! The hooking is in order, this time it's the right one, it's hung! A nice fight on his NFC705IM (5-20gr) and he manages to put this nice 76 cm fish in the net!

What fisherman doesn't have a Sandra in his box to save a complicated session?

Although it was nothing exceptional, this fish made us smile again! It even over-motivated us, but unfortunately no other pike came to visit us, only a nice chub was caught by Pierre-François at the end of the session.

A complicated day, but still nice, with a minimum of scales and a maximum of fun!
