The KR Concept or the optimization of a ring ramp for braid use

The differences between braid and nylon are not limited to abrasion, strength and fineness. That's why you need to adapt all your equipment to get the best out of it.

The appearance of braid at the beginning of the 21st century transformed fishing practices. The use of braid also had a major influence on the development of fishing rods, including rings. While manufacturers have focused on the ceramics used, Fuji has also focused on optimizing the ring ramp with regard to the characteristics of braid.

Le KR Concept c'est un cône de réduction sur les 3 premiers anneaux et une série de petits anneaux nombreux et collés au blank.
The KR Concept features a reduction cone on the first 3 rings and a series of numerous small rings glued to the blank.

The lightness of braid

When braid first appeared on the market, its characteristics led to many changes in fishing practices. Thanks to its finesse, casting distances exploded, but the material's lightness soon became a problem and the source of tangles during this phase, especially in windy conditions. So Fuji took the problem in hand!

The NGC, forerunner of the Kr Concept

The NGC (New Guide Concept) was developed by Fuji to optimize the use of nylon in terms of precision, casting distance, sensitivity, etc. With the NGC, braid worked very well, but tangles appeared!

Fuji then developed the KR Concept, which is specific to the use of braid and uses exactly the same principle as the NGC, namely:

  • an in-depth, optimal study of the number, size, height, placement and shape of the rings
  • the use of more and smaller rings on the tip
  • use of a 3-ring reduction cone to limit wire swelling

The Kr concept in brief

To put it simply, whether for casting or spinning, the principle of the KR Concept is based on a reduction cone (at the reel outlet) on the first 3 rings, the purpose of which is to channel and guide your line quickly.

This cone is followed by a ramp of very small, light rings glued to the blank, which guide your line along a very large part of your blank, offering numerous advantages.

En sortie de moulinet, la tresse est très rapidement canalisée pour être ensuite guidée le long de votre canne sur la plus grande longueur possible.
As it leaves the reel, the braid is quickly channelled and guided along your rod for as long as possible.

The benefits of the Kr concept

Reducing the weight of the ring ramp, channelling the line very quickly off the reel, gluing the rings to the blank and multiplying the points of contact provide real added value for the angler and his tool.

In fact, if these characteristics enable your braid to "marry" your blank, you'll gain in power, sensitivity and responsiveness, and therefore better shots. But, by channeling and guiding your line along its entire length, it also means more precise casting and optimized distances.

Finally, reducing the weight not only preserves the dynamic action of your blank, but also enhances the balance of the rod and reel assembly.

Que ce soit en casting ou en spinning, le concept reste identique.
Whether casting or spinning, the concept remains the same.

So if you're an avid braid user, I strongly recommend that when assembling a rod or purchasing one, you turn to KR Concept. To optimize and exploit all the characteristics of your tools and the materials they're made of.
