Single-strand, wrongly shunned?
Few commercial rods are available in single-gland versions, which should not be confused with butt-gland versions.
We're talking about a single strand from heel to tip. Its disadvantage lies in transport or storage. Clearly, a 2.40 m single-section rod cannot be transported in all conditions.

And yet, apart from transportation, it has nothing but advantages!
As a reminder, a blank is designed and manufactured to work in a certain way, from butt to tip. When a joint is added to create a multi-section rod, a hard point is created, altering the original action intended by the R&D team. The transmission of information, called resonance, is partially interrupted. Please note that this is perfectly acceptable, but must be taken into account.
From a technical point of view, it's in the angler's best interest to opt for a single-stranded rod.
2-strand rods
2-section rods are the most popular choice for both sea and freshwater anglers. We distinguish between rods with 2 equal sections and those with a butt joint.

Here, transport and storage worries are reduced. The disadvantage of this type of rod is, as explained above, that they were originally designed to work in a certain way. This means that the same blank is cut in 2, creating a hard spot and a discontinuity in the transmission of information.

For those with a heel joint, there are fewer constraints. You have a longer tip, continuous right up to the handle. This type of rod is an excellent alternative and a good compromise between single- and 2-piece rods.

Multi-strand rods
Rods with 3 or 4 sections are very popular with fishing trip enthusiasts and anglers who want to travel with their equipment without being constrained by space. They can be easily stowed away in a suitcase without the need for special transport, which can sometimes be expensive.

These fishing rods are often called "travel rods" and are made up of 3 or 4 sections. Careful attention must be paid to the joints and the quality of the reinforcements, especially for models designed for strong, exotic fishing. Their cost is a little higher than the same model in 2 sections.
