This set-up is ideal for searching for plaice. Its 3 stacks feature a mixture of arenicole worms and mackerel pieces. Attractive effluent baits!

Plaice, also known as plaice, are an interesting flatfish for all-round fishing. They grow to a much larger size than the flounders, whiting and pout with which they live. They are best fished with a three-stack rig, the third of which can be longer and feature a different bait.

Assembly

The rig is made up of three medium-sized stacks. On a nylon line body with a diameter of 0.50 to 0.60 mm, the stacks are attached with single swivels and glued beads. The special feature of this rig is the use of a slightly longer low stack with a mackerel slat. Big plaice are voracious, so don't hesitate to offer them a nice bite. Phosphorescent and red pearls can be mixed at will.

Using the assembly

When the current is strong, cast far downstream at 30° so that the rig settles in the sand in front of your rod. When the current is weak, you can use a single sinker and wind up 5 crank turns every minute.

The heavy equipment needed for this assembly

Rods in the 4.20 to 5 m range weigh 80 to 220 g. Reels in sizes 5,000 to 20,000 (depending on brand) are in the 500 to 900 g range and contain at least 200 m of fine nylon in 0.28 to 0.40 mm. Before assembly, we use a coarse nylon (ripped) the length of the rod in 0.50 to 0.60 mm.

Tips for success

A red or orange pearl can be added to seduce the plaice, the familiar colors of this species, which is dotted with them on its back.
