A growing offer
A decade ago, it was difficult to find good multi-stranded lure rods and manufacturers/distributors offering such products were rare. Today, the market for travel rods has expanded considerably for all lure fishing practices. Whether it's freshwater or saltwater, from ultra light to the strongest exotic fishing, whatever you're looking for, you should find it.
Rods equivalent to single rods, with the added advantage of a small footprint
When we talk about multi-section rods (or travel rods) we immediately think of travel and especially air travel. But this is not the only thing that comes to mind, because this type of rod has a clear advantage in everyday fishing. It would be a pity to use such rods only 2 weeks a year during a trip. For example, everyday transportation by car, bicycle, subway, train or even on foot is greatly facilitated. If you are an avid fisherman, having such a rod in your car at all times is undeniably a good thing if an unexpected fishing opportunity arises.
To come back to air travel, in general, airlines allow this type of rod to be carried in the cabin but it is advisable to inquire beforehand. For transport in the hold, if the rod does not come with its protective tube, I use a cardboard tube used by distributors for shipments. Your favorite fishing retailer should be able to keep one for you if needed.

To carry this tube, I use a "Duffle bag" which allows me to put all lengths of rods and the rest of my stuff in it. I can then take it easily in public transport and everywhere I go, especially during roadtrips.

Reduced risk of breakage
I've always heard friends break their rod in a door at home or in the trunk of their car. With a multi-section rod, you don't have to worry about distinguishing the tip from the rod and you avoid any unfortunate accident.
My opinion
From my point of view, multi-section rods are an improved version of single-section rods thanks to their reduced size which is appreciated every day, both when traveling and at home. It all depends on your lifestyle but they are worth considering. Personally, all my combos are now composed of travel rods, whether it is the ultra light, the bigbait or the exotic, and I would not go back for anything.
