Perch Pro 7 Episode 2: Teams storm the surface!

The point of the biggest perch in Topwater being held by the Strike King/Lew's team at the end of the first episode with a fish of only 36 cm, it is a point logically coveted by the competing teams. Find out what happened in Episode 2 of Perch Pro 7.

True to the strategy put in place at the start of this first day, Frédéric Jullian and Niklaus Bauer remain focused on the search for big fish on the surface. They will roll out the edges with big stickbaits and voluminous streamers without any result.

Tobias Ekvall and Dustin Schöne, in second place for the points of the number and the biggest pole in Topwater after the first episode, also decide to focus on Topwater. Tobias Ekvall quickly tucks in several mesh fish, until Dustin Schöne puts a hook deep into his thumb... The "dressing" interlude is followed by the catch of a 37 cm fish on the surface.

At the end of the first episode, the team holds 3 of the 4 attributable points: that of the number, the Top 5 and the biggest pole. Strategy announced for this 2 th episode: consolidate the Top 5 then switch to the number search. With already 64 fish to start this second episode, they continue on their way and chain the fish over 45 cm and improve their Top 5 with a fish of 47 cm.

Despite a very competitive start and some big fish on the first throws, the team is going through a long moment of loneliness. Solitude broken by Stephan Nielsen's catch of a nice fish at the Blade Jig, which gave them a 5 th fish for the Top 5 soon consolidated by a new 46 cm zebra and then a 43 cm fish. These fish place the team in second position for the Top 5 point.

At this stage of the competition, Marc Ptacovsky and Gaël Even hold the point of the biggest pole tied with the Bite of Bleak/Lurefans team. They leave aside the point of the number since with 10 fishes on the counter, they are indeed far from the score of the Bite of Bleak/Lurefans team and their 64 mesh perches. So they decide quite logically to focus first on the point of the biggest perch in Topwater to eventually aim later on the point of the Top 5. After a meshed fish on the surface they abandon this search to focus on the Top 5 point and quickly bring back 2 fish of 41 and 44 cm soon followed by a fish of 43. They finally return to the search for the big perch on the surface.

Sylvain Legendre and JB Morel stick to their initial plan: the point of the biggest pole on the surface. Unfortunately, in the same timing as Dustin Schöne from the Nays team, Sylvain Legendre stuck a hook in his finger..

After a moment without activity on a promising spot, Evert Oostdam takes a 38 cm fish on board. Then it's Adam Orre's turn with a superb 47 cm fish. Very beautiful fishes which nevertheless do not allow them to collect the slightest point...

Viktor Enblom and Per Tjernström hold at this stage the largest point in Topwater with a fish of 36 cm. For this second part of the day they will try to consolidate the Topwater point but also aim for the Big Fish and Top 5 point. Faced with the inactivity of the fish they decide to change the lake on which they focus on the Topwater. This strategy is quickly rewarded by the catch of many fish including a 41 cm fish which will be enough to consolidate their first place for the Topwater point.

Review of the points

Nothing has changed regarding the distribution of points compared to the first episode. While the Bite of Bleak/Lurefans team did not improve their 48 cm Big Fish, they have consolidated their fish number point and Top 5 by a wide margin and kept their 3 points since no one managed to catch a fish of 48 cm or more. This point is still shared between Bite of Bleak and Illex/Gunki. On its side, the Strike King/Lew's team keeps the Topwater point thanks to the catch of a 41 cm fish.

Even if the Bite of Bleak/Lurefans team scores 3 out of 4 points on the first day with a big score in the number of fish and a very solid Top 5, nothing is decided yet. The Big Fish point can be very disputed, the Topwater point can be reached by everybody and as for the number point, the luck can turn !
