When a national media with the power of RMC takes an interest in fishing, we can only applaud! RMC Pêche is a new podcast presented by Jean-Baptiste Morel, with Arnaud Brière and Gaël Even as consultants. Take a look behind the scenes.

For several years now, RMC has been developing themed podcasts: RMC Running, Entre les Potos, Basket Time, Court n°1... to name but a few! Peach is now part of the family, and a real podcast in the true sense of the word, it can be found on the various media outlets offering podcasts ... perfect for listening to on the move or even while fishing. It's also filmed and available on the RMC Sport YouTube channel with 1.7 million subscribers. That's quite an audience!

Morel Show!

The first RMC Pêche program was recorded on Thursday February 26 and released on Monday March 2. Jean-Baptiste Morel is the presenter. Jean-Baptiste has the advantage of being well-versed in all types of fishing, coming from a carp background and having made a name for himself in the world of lures (French Boat Champion 2023). He also works for the Fox group as head of marketing and communications for the European market.

"When you arrive at RMC at the same time as Rachida Dati, and you see through the windows the sports department editorial conference with the guys you listen to on the radio, the Pierre Dorians and Moscato, it's funny," smiles Jean-Baptiste, whom we spoke to on the phone after the premiere broadcast.

Renowned consultants

As with many of RMC's programs, the presenter knows how to take a back seat to a renowned consultant. For the first two shows, Arnaud Brière fulfilled this role brilliantly. it was dynamic, it had gouache," he told us the day after filming. But I'm fine with being polemical, getting into the thick of things: when I say that you shouldn't kill catfish or that you should stop bothering people and let them go fishing during the spawning season, not everyone is going to like that. I said what I thought, that's RMC's DNA".

Casting has not yet been finalized for future shows, with Gaël Even taking over for episodes 3 and 4, but Arnaud should be back in between guiding duties!

FNPF partner

To exist, this podcast had to find financial resources. A control room, a presenter, a consultant and a producer all come at a price. The FNPF is therefore committed to working alongside RMC, and certainly welcomes the opportunity offered by a medium of this stature to give positive exposure to the fishing hobby. Its presence is discreet, with a logo on the filmed program and a trailer on the podcast. Part of its communications budget is therefore committed to this adventure. And, as you'd expect, with a good return on investment!

Good ideas

To return to the first episode of RMC Pêche, which we first listened to and then watched, the whole is very coherent and the RMC spirit is very much present. Guests include Jean-Charles Valladont, double Olympic silver medallist, and Salim Sdiri, French long jump record holder. Both tell us about their passion for fishing. The columns are interesting: we really enjoyed the debates on current affairs, "Faut pas se leurrer" and "Au bout du Fil". Of course, there are still improvements to be made, not everything has been perfected, but the promise is well kept and we have a great time.

the aim is to speak to all anglers: the one who fishes once a year on the other side of the world, the one who fishes every day, the fly fisher, the predator, the competitor or even the carp angler," explains Jean-Baptiste, who has already done this in the past with JT de la Carpe. What do I want to do in the future? To host Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is a fishing fan, and very soon to do a program about young people, about the new generation".

The first episode lasts 52 minutes. The second episode will be released on Monday, March 16, with judoka-carpenter Cyrille Maret, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, and fishing guide Frédéric Drouet.
