Each angler sees his activity through a different prism, and what thrills one at the water's edge may be boring or insipid to another. So here are seven different ways of looking at fishing.
1 - The number
Whatever the species or size, some anglers find great satisfaction in catch after catch, and can linger for long periods on a compact shoal of perch without worrying, or wanting to select or look elsewhere. The pleasure is in the catch itself and in the multiplication of those catches.
Very often, these anglers focus on prospecting and/or small lure fishing, or on species that are well represented in the fishing environment.

2 - Sizing
Whatever the species, every outing is synonymous with the dream of catching a record. So the philosophy is often simple: "go big or go home". These anglers don't hesitate to use big lures or baits, to get off the beaten track and to focus on very specific environments and spots in the hope of catching a trophy fish. With this approach, a single touch is all it takes to make the day a success!

3 - Technology
Because fishing is a technical activity, some of us take particular pleasure in mastering and practising a large number of different animations. Learning and mastering is a source of constant satisfaction. These anglers are often ready to try out anything new that comes their way.
4 - Equipment
The latest rod, top-of-the-range reel and a case full of brand-new lures characterize these anglers. Pleasure isn't just at the water's edge, and equipment is an extension of the act. Simply marvelling at your rod is enough... With this in mind, catching a fish becomes a bonus and every outing a pleasure. So some go further by assembling their own rods, while others become collectors and display their lures in shop windows.

5 - Understanding
Learn and understand to progress... Here's another way of looking at your outings. Fishing is a leisure activity and a way to relax, but it's also an opportunity to learn more about the environment. The satisfaction of a catch lies in the fact that it is planned and understood. Chance is out of the question, and being in the right place at the right time by presenting your lure in the right way is the leitmotiv of these anglers.

6 - The competition
Leisure and competition are two totally different approaches. Catching one or more fish alone on a stretch of water on the day of your choice is totally different in terms of preparation, pressure and, for some, satisfaction, from carrying out the same action in the midst of 100 other anglers under imposed conditions and time constraints. I don't know if you become a competitor or if you are one, but what's certain is that not all of us are.
7 - Nature
Last but not least, for many, fishing is simply an opportunity to get away from it all, recharge their batteries and reconnect with nature. Urban anglers are becoming more and more numerous out of necessity and obligation, but let's face it, what a pleasure to find yourself in a deserted spot with only the sound of birdsong.

Because we're all driven by so many different things, it's obvious that we all fall into a bit of each category, sometimes at the same time, sometimes successively, depending on the context or the company... But the most important thing is to have fun on the water!
