The general context
At the Salon des maires et des collectivités locales from November 18 to 20, 2025, the Fédération Nationale de la Pêche en France (FNPF) took advantage of its presence to promote water policy, the protection of watercourses, particularly small ones, and partnerships with local authorities. The presentation of the médailles du mérite associatif pêche to these elected representatives is part of this effort to recognize exemplary local cooperation in water management.âeuros
The role of the FNPF and the Water Act
The FNPF federates a vast network of approved associations for the protection of the aquatic environment, recognized by the law on water and aquatic environments of December 30, 2006, for which André Flajolet was rapporteur at the French National Assembly. This law structures water policy in France, in particular the balanced management of water resources, the preservation of aquatic ecosystems and the role of fishing associations in the maintenance and monitoring of watercourses.âeuros

Elected representatives are singled out for several types of action, which are already well detailed in your text:
- Political consistency in defending water resources and aquatic environments.
- A contribution to the development and defense of water policy, often criticized and called into question.
- Close cooperation with recreational fishing associations, illustrating the joint work of elected representatives and stakeholders in the field.
- A specific commitment to small rivers, currently at the heart of the national campaign "âeuros¯Sauvons nos rivières : SOS petits cours d'eauâeuros¯" led by the FNPF.âeuros
