Sand worm (cordelle, miracle worm)
The sand worm is undoubtedly the king of baits for marblefish. In fact, it is perfectly suited to their diet. Very fine and long, it is baited with a needle to better present the bait on the hook. An ideal bait for fine fishing and long-distance casting. It is also very attractive for other sparids such as bream and sars.

Trawl worm, American worm, chickweed, toughs
The trawl worm is fleshier, ideal when there are many small, unwanted and voracious fish.
American, Chickweed and Korean Hardheads are very effective for selecting the best specimens. They hold better on the hook, making them ideal for long night fishing or rough seas.

Tellin and other shellfish
The tellin is a very small shellfish much appreciated by marblefish. A fragile bait to be baited in a string and secured with elastic thread to improve hold. Can be alternated with razor clams, small piads or cockles.

Shrimp
Shrimp can be a complementary bait, especially for wary or large marblefish.
A few practical tips for better marble fishing
For best results, fish mainly at night or at dusk, when marblefish approach the beaches.
Use very fine rigs, fluorocarbon leaders (from 18 to 24/100), small, prickly hooks, and when possible adapt a light sinker for a more natural presentation.
Remember to alternate throwing distances to find the right passages.
In the presence of parasitic fish or small "thieves", prefer thick, resistant worms such as trawl or chickweed.

Sand worms remain the bait of choice when looking for marblefish in the Mediterranean, supplemented by other worms, tellin shrimp or shrimp depending on conditions.
