Rod and reel
Fishing for bullseye snakehead is rather similar to fishing for black-bass with a frog. You need a rod with an extra-fast action, which allows you to strike quickly and energetically. Once hooked, a rod with this action allows you to control and extract the fish quickly.

A casting power of 15-70 grams, or Extra Heavy (XH), is the right compromise, for casting rather light lures while maintaining a good reserve of power for fighting.
A spinning or casting set is suitable, although a casting model is much more comfortable and offers better striking and fighting control.
In both cases, you'll need a fairly long rod, so a rod of around 2.2 metres, even if you opt for casting, is the ideal length. It allows you to cast a long way, while remaining easy to handle if you're fishing in tight spots that don't allow for easy casting.
There's nothing special about the reel, except that the brake must be powerful enough to prevent the fish from taking line, because fishing is done with the brake locked!

In any case, a 50-lb fluoro-carbon braid and leader are not too much, hence the preference for a casting set, which better accepts larger braid diameters.
This line power is necessary because fishing is a tight drag, and the fish must be reeled in quickly and ruthlessly to prevent them from taking refuge in an obstacle. Indeed, fishing can take place in aquatic vegetation, which makes it all the more necessary to have a strong line!
The teeth of the bullseyes snakehead do not require the use of a steel leader, so there is no contraindication to using fluorocarbon or nylon for the leader.

Finally, you don't necessarily need to supplement this equipment with fish-gripping pliers, as this fish can be caught by the back of the head and doesn't slip as much as an eel.
When it comes to handling the fish, you can hold it by the operculum, as with a pike.
In the end, if you're a black-bass or pike angler, chances are you've already got a combo that will be very comfortable fishing bullseye snakehead, which saves you a lot of investment!
