The GT Carangue
More commonly called GT, from the English Giant Trevally, the trevally ignobilis is the biggest of the trevally! Being able to reach weights exceeding 70 kg, it is a real war machine. Of a phenomenal power, it will know how to put the fisherman as well as his equipment to hard test no matter its size, the first meeting with such a trevally generally remains a moment engraved in the memory.

Its habitat
It is varied, from the coral reefs in about ten meters through the large drop offs of rocky plateaus to a depth of a hundred meters, jacks tend to live in schools, especially for the smaller individuals.
His diet
Essentially made up of fish of varying sizes, the carangue ignobilis is particularly fond of "fusiliers" which populate the reefs and form large schools visible on the surface, but the size of the prey can vary, and the large specimens are quite capable of swallowing large bonito.
The right periods to fish for carangue ignobilis
When the water is warm! Generally speaking, this fish is caught during the southern summer from October to April, but it is quite possible to find nice specimens outside these periods. Be careful, however, these elements may vary according to the geographical area.

The way he hunts
The GT owes its reputation to its surface attacks, it prowls around the reefs under the schools of fusiliers and rushes to the surface under its prey which generates huge explosions of water. Able to follow its meal on several tens of meters, the attacks are spectacular, which arouses a great interest from the fishermen for this super predator.
Its mouth is an extremely rigid grinding machine, it is very difficult to get a barb into the upper part of its palate and it is not so rare to have solid wood poppers blown off and to see the most remaining hooks on the market being split open.

As you will have understood, this fish is out of the ordinary, and it is not for nothing that the carangue ignobilis is surely the most sought after species in exotic surface fishing, but also in vertical fishing in many countries.
