Field hockey and fishing
The Tofino Saltwater Classic has been held for 13 years in British Columbia's Tofino, a fourteenth edition to be held on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This popular event, which includes a youth ball field hockey game, a one-day fishing tournament, a fisherman's dinner and an online auction, is organized by Brendan Morrison and numerous volunteers.

Improved school results
To date, the Tofino Saltwater Classic has raised over $815,000 to support Tofino community initiatives, with the majority of funds going to support the Wickaninnish PAC school's healthy eating and literacy programs. A program that has had a profound effect on children's lives, and has been directly correlated with improved academic results.

Other beneficiaries include the Tofino Salmon Enhancement Society and the West Coast Multiplex Society, among other environmental and youth-oriented initiatives, to serve multi-generational families interested in improving health and well-being through a variety of recreational and educational activities.
