Mercury Marine presents Fourstroke Efi 8 and 9.9 HP and Prokicker Efi 9.9 CH engines

Mercury Marine introduced the FourStroke EFI 8 and 9.9 hp and ProKicker EFI 9.9 hp outboards on June 6, 2024. These new outboards feature Mercury's advanced electronic fuel injection system, designed to offer fishing enthusiasts, boaters, and professional anglers easy starting and efficient performance.

Quick starts and savings

"In recent years, Mercury Marine has been pushing the limits of high-end outboard engines with its 350-400 and 600 hp Verado engines, but at the same time, we've been focused on developing the next generation of outboards in our transportable engine lineup," said John Buelow, president of Mercury Marine. "Redesigning the 8 and 9.9 hp family to include EFI offers many benefits to consumers, such as faster starts and better fuel economy, which is part of our commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality products."

Fuel economy and efficiency

Thanks to EFI technology and other improvements, these engines save up to 27% fuel compared with older carburettor models in the same power range. They are light enough to be transported, making them ideal for on-the-water propulsion in towable fishing boats and other small craft, including inflatable tenders. At the same weight, these outboards produce more power at high revs than previous-generation carburetor engines, while offering substantial weight savings over most EFI outboards in their class.

Easy maintenance

EFI technology also makes these engines easy to maintain, and there are no oil filters to change. What's more, their maintenance-free camshafts require no regular servicing or valve lash adjustment for the life of the engine. The new engines are also equipped with a quick-connect fresh-water flushing device that connects to an ordinary garden hose.

FourStroke EFI 8 and 9.9 hp, starting in all weathers

EFI technology eliminates all-weather starting problems. The 8 and 9.9 hp EFI models are available with a choice of manual or electric starting. Manual-start models do not require a starter battery, making them more practical.

"When you pull the cord to start the engine manually, it automatically charges the entire electrical system to enable ignition," explains Jim Hergert, Mercury Marine's senior category manager for outboard engines 30 hp and under.

The EFI 9.9 hp model is available with remote or tiller controls, manual or electric trim. The EFI 8 hp model features an easy-to-use tiller - reversing, throttle, steering, manual lift and engine stop button can all be operated with one hand.

A smooth, quiet riding experience thanks to the incorporation of vibration- and noise-damping materials, including soft rubber silentblocks.

ProKicker EFI 9.9 hp

The Mercury ProKicker EFI 9.9 hp offers all these benefits and doubles them with additional features designed for the professional angler. The ProKicker's high-thrust four-blade propeller offers superior control, allowing anglers to choose precise trolling speeds. The new EFI model also features Mercury's Command Thrust baseplate for greater durability, as well as a standard hydraulic vertical lift system.

"Just press the button and the motor lifts effortlessly when you're ready to switch to your main motor," explains Mr. Hergert.

Whether you're looking for big fish or big adventures, the new Mercury 8 and 9.9 hp and ProKicker 9.9 hp outboard motors, equipped with the new generation EFI, offer safe starts and quiet, efficient performance for confident fishing days.
