In collaboration with the Yacht Club du Crouesty Arzon (YCCA), Le Mille Sabords organized the Crouesty Fishing by Le Mille Sabords bass fishing challenge on May 11 and 12. This single-species no-kill challenge, dedicated to sea bass, took place over two days with three-person crews, operating in areas between Hoëdic, Quiberon and the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan.

21 crews of 3

In terms of numbers, 21 crews of 3 were present at the starting line, including an all-female team. The youngest angler was just 15 years old and already passionate about the sport. Members of the two local fishing clubs - BleuFin Atlantic and CPPR - as well as local companies such as RC Marine and MB Marine were welcomed to take part in these two days of friendly competition. A team of Lowrance brand ambassadors was also present. Four stewards were on hand to monitor and enforce the rules.

The first day, in glorious sunshine, took place in zone 1 around Houat, with fish not inclined to bite easily. On the second day, the competition took place in zone 2 around Hoedic, with weather conditions a little less clement, but there were more fish. The biggest sea bass of the competition was measured at 79 centimetres, a very nice fish! The atmosphere was excellent, and all participants are already enthusiastic about the idea of another edition. The exchanges between anglers at the end of the challenge, the smiles and the good times shared, are therefore encouraging to envisage another edition.

A new edition in 2025?

The challenge had to be canceled during the October 2023 show, so spring looks much kinder in terms of weather. So the question arises for the organizers, bearing in mind that organizing a challenge mobilizes many people, and this is an essential point to consider for the future.

The YCCA (Yacht Club Crouesty Arzon) managed the on-the-water part (rules and stewards), while Mille Sabords took care of administration and communication. It was a first, and all went well, even if the fishing was difficult to say the least, particularly for bass. With a multi-species challenge, there would have been more catches, an idea perhaps for a new edition...
