Shorts and pants
The strong point of the Columbia Silver Ridge pant is that it is easily transformable into shorts. Indeed, a zipper on each leg allows you to remove the bottom part to transform these pants into shorts.
The closures are made of light plastic, they are not heavy and do not bother in any way. The advantage of this system is to be able to alternate easily between shorts and pants, for example when there are mosquitoes, when the sun is too strong or when it starts to get cold. It is a two in one, which adapts quickly to each moment of the day.
The pants are sold with a very light plastic belt. It has two hand pockets, two back pockets, a zippered pocket on the left thigh and a pocket that closes with a scratch on the right thigh.
UPF 50
Another interesting point of these pants is that they are UPF 50. This means that the Omni-shade technology used by Columbia guarantees a good protection against UV rays.
Ideal for fishing
Don't think that these pants are only for travel or exotic destinations, because they are also suitable for our fishing in France. Indeed, its robustness, its flexibility and its comfort allow to fish in boat, from the shore or in street fishing, thanks to its neutral style.
The sweat-wicking technology makes it comfortable most of the year, spring, summer and fall. In winter, I would set the limit for wearing these pants at 5°C. In addition, the material used makes them dry very quickly when wet, which makes the fishing experience more pleasant.
My opinion
Columbia's pants are pants that I like. I bought my first one four years ago and a second one two years ago. I have not noticed any failures in the closures, waistband, or seams. So I recommend it without hesitation, for its comfort and its robustness.
