The Saltiga range
Saltiga is a range of reels very famous for having very strong and powerful reels, used by fishermen for strong fishing of big fish. In 2020, Daiwa presented a Saltiga model in sizes ranging from 14,000 to 20,000 for bluefin tuna fishing in France or large exotic fish.
In 2023, the range expands with a new model available in sizes 4000, 5000 and 6000. The 5000 size comes in two different versions, each with a specific ratio, a slow ratio for jigging and a fast ratio for surface fishing and prospecting.
This addition will allow fishermen who need a robust and fluid equipment, to practice sea fishing in all serenity. Initially designed for sea fishing and therefore more resistant to corrosion, the Saltiga can be used in fresh water without any problem.
The targeted techniques
This new model of Saltiga is as well intended to be used in metropolitan France as in exotic fishing beyond our borders.
For the Atlantic fishermen, this reel in its size 4000 and 5000 will be perfectly adapted to big bass fishing, while the size 6000 will be very useful for wreck fishing. In the Mediterranean, this reel will be particularly effective for searching for amberjacks and barracudas with surface lures during the summer season as well as for fishing on pelagic fish up to 10 kg.
Of course, it is in exotic fishing that the Saltiga 2023 will shine, whether it is in Africa in search of small jacks and red carp, but also in South America for snook or tarpon. The lightness of this reel will allow you to take it with you when fishing from the shore, where comfort is essential to be able to spend hours in fishing action.
State-of-the-art technologies
The Saltiga 2023 benefits from all the latest technological advances designed by the Daiwa factories to make this reel extremely powerful, strong and light at the same time. This reel is equipped with Magsealed bearings, hermetically sealed with magnetic oil, to prevent salt water infiltration.
Like its predecessor, the Saltiga 2023 is in a monocoque version, a one-piece aluminum body that allows this reel to be equipped with a larger drive wheel that increases the power and torque available. We also find the air drive design technology, which consists in reducing the inertia of the rotor when we put the reel in rotation. This allows for a smooth movement and the ability to turn the crank without any effort, very useful during long sessions on the water.
The pickup hoop has also been reworked in its shape to guide the braid into the spool more easily.
