Brittany boasts an impressive 2,700 km of coastline, as well as numerous islands, not to mention a multitude of estuaries and rias. It is undoubtedly one of the best destinations in the world for fishing European sea bass, Dicentrachus labrax.

Different possibilities for fly fishing

The three départements of the Brittany headland offer a wealth of opportunities for fly-fishing for sea bass. The fly fisherman will have innumerable options for trying to find this marine predator, whether using a streamer from the shore or from a boat, but also by sight.

Sea bass can be found just about everywhere, in the open sea, on rocky outcrops, on beaches, but also in the smallest freshwater inlets where they swim upstream to feed. Large sea bass live in estuaries, but also in the sea. Fish weighing several kilos are commonplace for those who know where, when and how to catch this formidable fish that adapts to all environments.

Here's a truly non-exhaustive list (so endless are the possibilities) of places to go, depending on where you live.

The best sea bass fishing spots in Morbihan

The Golfe du Morbihan is of course one of Brittany's "hot spots" for sea bass fishing, whether on the points where you can fish from the shore, or by boat or kayak where you can exploit all the positions. The oyster beds are excellent spots for sea bass at certain times of the tide. Good currents form at both tides and offer excellent fishing areas.

But also freshwater arrivals in the Gulf: Rivière du Bonnot, Le loc'h, ...

The Scorff and Blavet estuaries are renowned for their large sea bass, which sometimes migrate far upstream into freshwater.

The Ria d'Etel is an exceptional place for shore fishing, particularly at Pont de Lorois, but also for kayaking in the many inlets and stations, which consist mainly of oyster beds.

Not forgetting, of course, Belle Île en Mer, and the islands of Houat and Hoedic...
