Rip Roller
The Rip Roller is a sturdy wooden lure designed to tackle large Amazonian predators such as peacock-bass andaimara. It comes with sturdy treble hooks and can therefore be used as is, but it tolerates being rigged with single hooks very well. In fact, as the lure is made of wood, I recommend using single hooks, as trebles quickly damage it.
Its shape is very simple, in fact it's not its swimming action that interests us, as there is none, but its ability to make the helix that finishes it work as it should, and this it does successfully. Its shape and weight make it very easy to cast, whether for long-distance casting or precision casting in crowded places.
Sizes
The Rip Roller is available in 5 sizes: 82, 108, 140, 165 and 190 millimeters.
The larger sizes - 140, 165 and 190 millimetres - are clearly the ones to go for, as they hold up well on the water and withstand rough handling without taking off. What's more, they represent a nice-sized prey or opponent, which will get the big fish moving. Smaller sizes are not to be overlooked, for species such as black bass and even pike.
The colors
Not all colors are available in all sizes, so you'll have to look at each size individually. Most of the colors offered are flashy, such as orange, white and yellow.
An anecdote
