Presentation
The Owner Flashy Swimmer is a Texas hook, equipped with a paddle for added visual appeal. The hook is leaded on the shank to balance the soft lure mounted on it. Finally, it is equipped with the CPS Twistlock at the head, a fastener that screws into the lure and provides a very good hold on it. This attachment is proportioned according to the size of the hook and has the advantage of holding it really well, without tearing it as it can happen with too small attachments.
Many sizes available
In the beginning, the Flashy Swimmer was only offered in sizes 1/0, 3/0 and 5/0. Now, it is available in larger sizes, such as 6/0, 8/0, 10/0, 12/0, which allows to use this rig even with very big soft lures.
Use
This hook, accompanied by a soft lure, is ideal for prospecting areas of vegetation, including between water lilies, a favorite area for pike and black bass. Its design means that it doesn't stick to the grass and the blade often stays clean. A linear retrieve is often enough to make the fish react, this retrieve can be punctuated by short stops to make the lure go down and give a more random swim to the whole.
All these qualities hide 2 small defects
The first flaw would be its price, but honestly, you shouldn't stop at this one, considering its efficiency and its life span. When choosing between a pack of these hooks with a pouch of soft lures, or a hard lure, I will take the first choice without hesitation, this one has brought me so many pikes! Having tried other brands, the Owner is more durable and better designed.
The second flaw, which is more of a detail that you should know, is that the hooks lack bite. As soon as the hook is taken out of the package, it must be sharpened to ensure the best bite, especially since it is in Texan and you must put all the chances on your side.
An ideal combo
If you want to try this hook, to start with, I advise you to take it in size 5/0 and to mount a shad in 5 inches, like the Swim Fish from Lunker City or in 6 inches like the One up Shad from Sawamura, for example. You should quickly be convinced!
