How to make a 360° setup for pike fishing with soft lures?

The arming of soft lures, especially when they are large, is not always obvious and raises many questions. For a decade now, the 360° rig, which consists in presenting a triple under the belly of its shad, has appeared. Here is how to do it.

Whatever the target fish and the fishing techniques you use, the possibilities of mounts are numerous and constantly evolving. We sometimes wonder about the interest of one compared to the other but also about the way to realize it.

The advantages of 360° mounting

Thus, for pike fishing with soft lures, if it is possible to make stacks and to cast your treble on the side of the lure, the 360° rig is now the most often used because it offers several advantages:

  • Your treble hook is perfectly clear of the lure.
  • It is the opposite of your single hook and thus perfectly presented to bite your catch.
  • The presence of a barrel swivel strongly limits stalls.

Creation of a 360° montage

To make this assembly you will then need :

  • A soft lure
  • A lead head of adequate size
  • A triple in relation to the size of your lure
  • A broken ring
  • A rolling swivel
  • A loach or boilie needle
  • Flexible reinforced braid
  • A tube of glue

Step 1

Place your soft lure on the lead head. Ideally, the hook should be about 1/3 of the way out.

Step 2

With a broken ring pliers, assemble the triple, the broken ring and the rolling swivel.

Step 3

Using a spoon knot, connect a strand of braid to the rolling swivel.

Step 4

With your lure needle, thread the braid through your soft lure, vertically to where the shank of your hook emerges.

Step 5

Pull the braid gently so that the swivel enters the lure.

Step 6

Make 5 successive half-keys, tightly around the hook shank.

Step 7

Cut flush and put a dot of glue to lock the knot.

Your shad is now ready to fish.
