The Indian River

The Indian River is a lagoon located along the east coast of Florida. It extends from the city of Daytona Beach, with its famous Nascar racetrack, to the city of Fort Pierce. Titusville, located not far from the NASA base at Cape Canaveral, is a famous place for sport fishing.

Spotted sea trout

One of the common species found in the area is called "spotted sea trout", which sounds like a sea trout, but it is not. Indeed, it has nothing to do with a trout and belongs to the family of Sciaenidae it is more similar to a European meagre than to a salmonid. Its fishing is popular in the southeastern states of the United States, where it is found. This popularity is such that it is even part of the top 10 most fished species in the country. Commonly, it weighs from 1 to 2 kg and can reach up to 4 kg.

Fishing

The popularity of this species is undoubtedly due to the fact that it is found almost everywhere on the seashore where it frequents the shallow areas. It responds on a number of techniques. With lures, we can hope to catch them, among others, on jerkbaits minnow, soft lures type shad and finess of standard size, around 10 to 12 centimeters. For my part, I had fished it successfully with topwater.
