The diversity of fishing equipment at sea is a real treasure but can also be a real headache and you can quickly find yourself crowded. I decided to take part in the question and answer game in order to choose a single product among the indispensable elements for sea fishing.

The choice of equipment for sea fishing is extremely wide. I decided to take part in the game and to select only one product from the basic equipment to practice sea fishing by boat, explaining why this choice rather than another.

My preferred technique

To make it consistent, let's start by identifying the technique I practice most and for which the material will be selected. It is the tracking of sea bass and yellow leagues with soft lures in areas of a depth between 15 and 25 m more or less exposed to the current.

If I only had to keep one cane...

First element, considered in my eyes as the main one and the one to which I pay the most attention in the choice.

I have selected NFC SJ 706 IM. This American Blank of the North Fork Composite brand distributed by Rodhouse.

I opted for this 2.13m model among the very numerous references, because of its great versatility. With a real power of 15-45 grams, it allows me to cover almost all situations encountered.

Its assets are its exceptional resonance which is indispensable for tactile fishing. Vertically, it is possible to use 100 gram jigs without any worries. This rod also has an interesting reserve of power for bridle beautiful fish.

I also use it for topwater fishing, its fairly fast but not too fast tip makes it easy to animate surface lures.

Finally, with the right Fuji rings attached, she's a great pitcher. Its price of 150 euros for the naked blank (count 250 for the mounted rod) remains reasonable considering the qualities it has.

If I only had to keep one reel...

My selection criteria are as follows:

  • Reliability
  • Recovery
  • Brake adjustment
  • AFTER-SALES SERVICE
  • Awards

My choice is the Shimano stradic 4000 FL. Light and robust, the qualities of this model are not to be dismantled and its price, below 200 euros, gives it an excellent value for money on the market.

If I only had to keep one decoy...

Probably the most difficult selection for any fisherman. As far as I'm concerned, the choice is very simple and it's no surprise the Black Minnow size 4 (140 mm) from FIIISH.

This lure, omnipresent not to say indispensable, attracts all the species present in Breton waters.

The size 140 is all-purpose. Contrary to the size 120 mm, it allows me to put heavier heads so that I can prospect deeper or more exposed to the current. The heads exist in many weights (10, 20, 28, 40, 60 and 80 grams) and can be adapted to any depth.
