What equipment to fish for whitefish with lures?

The light equipment used for street fishing is particularly suitable. It allows the use of light and tiny lures and makes it possible to fish with pleasure a carpeau like a supercharged barbel.

The same equipment as for street fishing

To track white fish, I clearly use my equipment for street fishing. The rods, very sensitive and precise, allow minimalist animations and offer the possibility to fight with pleasure a 20 cm rotengle as a 3kg carp! The full tip offers a nice curve and allows you to cast unweighted lures of less than 0.5g! A reel of size 1000 to 2500, with a fine braid (PE 0.3 to PE 0.6) allows to cast far and to detect the slightest suction of the lure. A nylon leader for surface fish and a fluorocarbon leader for bottom fish finish the line.

The hooks

I use a lot of single hooks (Finesse Down Shot Illex) for the surface, not weighted, and the same hooks equipped with a tungsten ball (very used by fly fishermen to weight nymphs) to go and get the fish when they are on the bottom.

My favorite lures

On the lure side, the famous Woodlouse and the Magic Mayfly from Illex give me complete satisfaction. The latter, very versatile, can be used in 3 ways: 1) whole, in one piece, for a mobility and attractiveness beyond compare 2) just the tail, by taking care of its drifts, it looks like a micro larva drifting 3) the abdomen which can be used as an insect floating on the surface. A must have for fishing our cyprins! For the fish diggers, the worms like the Flick Shake of Illex, presented in particular in wacky are frightening!

L'épuisette est indispensable pour manipuler correctement les gros cyprinidés. Ici, une carpe commune.
The landing net is essential to handle correctly the big cyprinids. Here, a common carp.

Finally, to be as efficient as possible, don't forget a landing net (it is difficult to grab a white fish by the mouth or the gills) and a good pair of polarized glasses to spot the fish.

Now it's your turn to play!
