As we progress in rodbuilding, we try to break new ground and embark on new projects. If edging is just for aesthetic purposes, you can combine different techniques and colors to create increasingly complex ones.
Simple edging, trim band, olive branch - you can combine them all and multiply the colors, the only thing is to organize and distribute your threads properly so you can find your way around. Here's just one example among many.
Step 1
For this example, place three colored wires under your ligature and start as you know how.
Step 2
After 15 turns, make a single border with the red thread, then a turn with your main thread, then another single border with the red thread.
Step 3
Then make 3 turns with the main thread, followed by a single border with the grey thread, then three more turns.
Step 4
Create an "olive branch" border by turning from right to left with your grey thread.
Step 5
Then make 3 turns with your gold wire.
Step 6
Again, perform in order for perfect symmetry:
- A trick with your main thread
- A gold border on a lap
- A black tour
Step 7
Make another 3 turns with your gold wire.
Step 8
Then redo the "olive branch" edging as in step 4, taking care to maintain perfect symmetry in the turns.
Step 9
Repeat 3 turns with your main thread, then again a simple grey border.
Step 10
Make 3 more turns with your main thread, then again a single border in red.
Step 11
One more turn with the main thread, then a red border.
Step 12
Make the last 15 turns with your main wire, remembering to cut off excess wire on either side and place a loop to complete your binding.
Your "complex" binding is now complete. The most important thing is to organize your wires properly to avoid knots and, above all, to make sure that the edging is symmetrical for a perfect finish!
