Fish for pike perch with a soft lure to give yourself the best chance. The pike-perch is a mystical freshwater fish that fascinates more than one fisherman. With a soft lure, catching them doesn't leave much to chance.

A fish with a moody behavior

Pikeperch are sometimes difficult to pin down, this wary fish has a quick learning curve when faced with danger.

On the other hand, sometimes it turns into a hunter with a frantic behavior! It is therefore necessary to constantly adapt your lure and your animation according to the situation.

However, it is certain that among the different families of lures available on the market, it is the soft lures that stand out when it comes to fishing for pike perch.

The soft lure, a must for pikeperch fishing

It is possible to catch pike perch with any type of lure, even with a fly.

But it is the soft lures that offer the most consistent results throughout the year and on all kinds of stations.

They are discreet and realistic lures and the big advantage is that they are an excellent medium to put attractant.

Because in addition to having an excellent sight, even at night or in a loaded water, the pike-perch has a very developed sense of smell.

Versatile lures

What I like about soft lures is that you can really adapt your rig to any situation. You just have to analyze your position, the bottom, the obstacles and determine which rig is the most appropriate. On the surface without lead, with a simple hook or Texan if the area is crowded. But you can also go after pike perch on the bottom with a heavy lead head or fish in a line with a lighter weight.

While fishing with soft lures, I have caught pike perch by scraping the bottom or simply by casting back under the surface.

These lures can be used in countless ways, then you have to know how to observe to understand where the pike perch are hiding and determine if they are active or resting. The advantage is that with a small assortment of soft lures of different colors and a few lead heads and hooks, you are prepared for all situations.

Some personal references

In my favorite brands of soft lures for pike perch, there is Fiiish with the Black minnow and the Mud digger.

Then, there are some references distributed by Ultimate Fishing like the One Up Shad, the X-layer curly or the bakuree shad.

There are also soft lures from the Keitech brand, pro zander lures from Fox or the pulse shad from Berkley.

The fine lures filled with attractant also give good results on pikeperch. It is up to us to adapt the vibrations of our lures to the mood of the fish.
