Rough Trail Bubbly 185F
The Rough Trail Buddy 185F is a popper with an elongated, uniform body, including its mouth, which allows it to be cast and retrieved without constraint.

Its shape and internal balance make it pop at the very beginning of a shot. It then dives below the surface creating a net of bubbles. When stopped, it stands vertically, making it easier for fish arriving from below to see it and gobble it up.
The Rough Trail Bubby 185F has an integral internal frame which makes it very resistant to the biggest fish. This, combined with its intermediate size of 18.5 centimetres, makes for a solid lure without being too big.

The lure is fitted with solid split rings, but no hooks, giving you the opportunity to rig it as you wish. I used single hooks in size n°5/0.

The choice of colors is limited to four, for use at sea in clear waters. This limited choice isn't too disturbing, and one of the colors is particularly good: Genkai sardine.

Use
In France, this popper is mainly reserved for sea bass, tuna and cuttlefish.

When travelling, there's a multitude of species for which this lure can also be used, thanks to its intermediate, all-purpose size. These include striped bass, roosterfish, trevally and a whole host of species that are receptive to surface lures.
My opinion
The Rough Trail Bubbly 185F is a successful popper, meeting all the criteria you'd expect from this type of lure. It emits a characteristic popper pop and a good trail of bubbles, it casts well, it's solid, easy to use and its size is adapted to a good number of uses, neither too small nor too big, all positive things!
