Fishing for red seabream is mainly done at great depths, generally between 100 and 700 meters, where this fish lives in homogeneous schools. Fishing is often done from a boat, using an electric reel or winch to lower multi-hook rigs filled with natural bait.
The most effective baits for targeting red bream
Squid lanyard or tentacle, red or white: it's one of the favorite baits of pink bream and stays firmly on the hook. A very good hold on the hook which allows it to resist attacks from bottom fish for a long time. To increase the longevity of the presentation, it is advisable to bind the strip or piece of squid to the hook with a rubber band.
Pieces of sardine: they release a lot of scent into the water, which quickly attracts schools of red bream and helps fix the fish.
Prawns: very effective, especially if they are bound with elastic so that they stay in place when touched.
Sea worms (American worm, sand worm) : appreciated for their attractiveness, they are nevertheless more fragile for pink bream fishing.
Molluscs and small shellfish : some fishermen also opt for these baits, which are a natural part of the pink bream's diet.

Presentation tips and fishing action
We strongly recommend the use of longline rigs or multiple hooks fitted with glow-in-the-dark beads to improve attraction at great depths. The presentation of the bait is just as important as its choice in attracting the often wary red bream.
Catches are often larger at greater depths (beyond 200 meters) and fishing there is often more productive.
You should also pay close attention to shoeing and line tension, as pink sea bream has a fragile mouth, which can lead to a lot of stalls if too much force is applied.
Pink seabream is slow-growing and long-lived, so fish responsibly and respect the minimum size limit (33 cm in the Mediterranean and 40 cm in the Atlantic) North Sea / English Channel / Atlantic, to date).

Squid, sardines, shrimp and sea worms are the best baits for pink bream fishing, depending on the depth and area fished.
